SLB/MLBL Pre-Season Update

Thank you for your patience as we completed the pre-season evaluations.  We apologize for the delays - we had almost 1,500 kids evaluated total in the three days.  Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped with the evaluation process.

So what's next?

If you missed the pre-season evaluations:  We will be setting up a make-up evaluation on Saturday, October 14.  You will receive an email by Wednesday, October 4 with the check-in times for the make-up evaluations that day.

If you indicated that you are interested in travel (grades 5-8):  Travel tryout invitations will be sent out to players who pre-qualify (based on the results of the pre-season evaluation) by Friday, October 6.  Travel tryouts will run October 14-20.  Each age group will hold two sessions.  Interested players are encouraged to attend both session.  Players who are interested in travel must attend at least one session to be considered for travel.

If you missed the pre-season evaluations and are still interested in travel:  Players will need to first attend the make-up evaluations on October 14 and will then receive an invite to travel tryouts if they pre-qualify for travel.

House League Participants:  House league drafts will take place the week of October 23, and teams will be finalized by November 1.  Coaches will be contacting players between November 1 and November 8.  Practices will begin the week of November 13.

Coaches:  You will be hearing from your division coordinators this week about the next steps in the process.  We are still seeking coaches in most of the age groups, so it is not too late to sign up and coach.  If you are interested, click here to complete your coaching application.

MLBL is getting a new name!

The Mercer-Lunsford Basketball started in 2004 as the Mercer Basketball League.  As the region has grown, so has our league.  With the addition of Willard Middle School and Goshen Post Elementary school next year, we have decided to transition to a region-based name.  Introducing our new name, South Loudoun Basketball!  South Loudoun Basketball, or "SOLO" for short, will continue to feature our winter house and travel program as the cornerstone of our program.  We have recently added spring and summer travel, AAU and other programs to our offerings as well.  For more details, read the official press release and be on the lookout as we migrate from "mlblhoops.com" to "solohoops.com"  Welcome to the next generation of basketball in southeastern Loudoun county....welcome to South Loudoun Basketball!
